Updating bios on emachines
The battery life is dramatically dropping and tech support keeps telling me to run the battery something or other feature in the bios, which my version does not offer. Before I do that, though, does anyone know of a reason why Ubuntu might have a problem with the new version?
My dad has an emachine with and intel D945GCL motherboard.
Is there a way to update the e Machines e520 BIOS under Ubuntu, or do I need to (or should I even attempt to) create a DOS boot disc to do it?

Would it be safe to flash the oem bios with the bios from the intel website?
Does anyone know if that bios would give me more control over the memory speeds and maybe some overclocking?
